The charismatic Palladian Ensemble is firmly established on the international music scene as a quartet of the highest calibre, presenting baroque chamber music infused with style, uninhibited virtuosity and intelligent musicianship. Over the past fifteen years the Ensemble has made numerous broadcasts and played hundreds of performances at prestigious venues across Britain, Europe, North and South America and still enjoys consistent popularity with audiences and critics worldwide.
The Palladian Ensemble's award-winning series of recordings for Linn records have received unanimous praise including numerous Diapason D'or awards and the Gramophone Magazine 'Editor's Choice' plaudits.
They have been described as "one of the best chamber music ensembles - baroque, or otherwise - currently in business'. Their tenth recording for LINN Records, Bach Sonatas and Chorales, is due to be released in February 2006.
The Palladian Ensemble's series of recordings for Linn records continue to receive critical acclaim. AN EXCESS OF PLEASURE (Gramophone "Critic's Choice" 1993, Diapson D'or award) was released to unanimous praise and featured in the UK classical charts throughout 1993.
This was followed by a CD of Venetian chamber works THE WINGED LION in 1994 (awarded a Diapson D'or) and a recording of BACH TRIO SONATAS Gramophone "Critic's Choice again in 1995).
A CHOICE COLLECTION 17 Century English music and TRIOS FOR FOUR have also been received by press and public with unanimous praise.
The recording LES SAISONS AMUSANTES (awarded a Diapson D'or award in France) is a remarkable 18 century arrangement of Vivaldi's The FourSeasons for hurdy-gurdy, recorder, violin and continuo.
A CD of THE SUN KING'S PARADISE of French baroque music was released in 1999(awarded a Diapson D'or award in France).
The CD "HELD BY THE EARS", released May 2000 (awarded a Diapson D'or) features the unique and arresting music of Nicola Matteis alongside colourful settings of popular melodies of the day.
The Palladian Ensemble's most recent CD "LES ELEMENS" - A programme of virtuoso French Baroque Chamber Music by Marais and Rebel was released on 5 October 2003.
