Child Protection Policy
The Arts Circus believes that it is always unacceptable for a child or young
person to experience abuse of any kind and recognises its responsibility to
safeguard the welfare of all children and young people, by a commitment to
practice which protects them. We recognise that the welfare of the
child/young person is paramount and our child protection policy, was
developed using the NSPCC's First Check system. The policy applies to all
staff, including senior mangers and the Board of Directors, or anyone
working on behalf of The Arts Circus. We are also committed to reviewing
our policy and good practice annually.
Outreach work
The Arts Circus is committed to bringing its events to the whole community,
especially to those for whom music and the arts rarely feature in their
daily lives. Working with a hugely experienced team of musicians and
artists of the highest calibre we create workshops, projects and concerts to
positively impact and enrich people's lives.
Here are just some of the comments we have received from workshop and festival participants:
"Their teaching was tremendous - generous, energetic and inspiring: they
managed to create a relaxed and very good-humoured atmosphere and at the
same time help every player understand the music better, to interpret it
with greater sensitivity and musicality and to play to the utmost of their
ability." Gill Robinson
"I loved it when Mark and Chris played one guitar together" Emily F
"I had a fantastic time at the festival and was able to gain lots of
useful
tips and advice from Thomas Kirchhoff and Dale Kavanagh, which I still refer
back to now to aid my practice. It also gave me the opportunity to meet
other guitarists and make friends that I still keep in touch with. I am so
thankful that I was awarded the special bursary, as without this help I
would have truly missed out on a very valuable and enjoyable experience."
Gareth P
"It was amazing watching them play the guitar together... Instead of
telling
our parents we had a normal day, we could say we had a great day!" Katie
"It was a hugely enjoyable and stimulating weekend. I felt I had learned
a
tremendous amount and had the greatest good fortune in being able to take
part." Alan C
"It was absolutely brilliant. I didn't realize the guitar could play
so
many different types of music. Please may they come again?" Emily C-M
"They literally gave all, and more, of their time and expertise to the
participants - a fabulous weekend." Ian B
"A rich learning experience in an informal and friendly setting . They
gave
generously of their time, energy and knowledge . and just watching some
coaching sessions was worth the admission." Graham C
"We all wanted to play the guitar by the end of the day!" Charlie
How he managed in a very few sessions to produce a piece worth listening to
is indicative of his immense teaching talent." Miles R
